Why should they listen to a coach who – despite best intentions – just doesn’t ‘get’ it, or has never ‘been there’?
Many coaches cannot comprehend the sheer weight of responsibility on a Captain’s shoulders. Nor will they know the struggles faced by a leader who is the face of your brand, on-call 24/7 often for months at a time, is away from home and yet relied upon to perform 100% of the time.

Expertise + Experience
Having graduated from Cardiff University and Britannia Royal Navy College, Dartmouth, I went on to lead small teams and units before undertaking roles that included vessel Captaincy, Bomb Disposal and Diving Group Command, and lastly as Director of Professional Training. And as well as leading specialist teams, I’ve worked alongside the Special Forces, within joint agency Counter Terrorism and managed the complexities of experimental research and development.
In 2008 I was recognised by the Royal Canadian Navy for my leadership within Research and Development and support to their Special Forces, while in 2012 I was one of eight nationwide to be commended by the UK’s Armed Forces for ‘Outstanding Leadership’ within the security mission of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Having led both afloat and ashore, I witnessed how coaching enabled teams, groups and ships to beat the odds, overcome adversity and perform beyond expectation. This compelled me to embark upon a new chapter and path to become an ILM Masters Level Coach and Mentor.
Given my leadership portfolio, I was later elected a Fellow by the Institute of Leadership and Management and have since combined this skillset with personal experience to deliver dedicated support to your most valuable employees. Clients describe my approach as down to earth in nature and humble in tone thanks to my approachable, informed and unbiased delivery.
